A Pioneer has taken digital imaging and photography to a new level in south Florida. This innovative way to shoot professional portraits is at the forefront of the industry. This company has grown quickly over the past five years since digital hit the professional market. The local company is Robert James Photography and I am employed there.
Robert James established the company in 1986 as a small photographer in Davie, Florida. Robert James Photography (referred to here on out as RJP) became the first photographer to break the chains of film and lab processing to move into the high-end world of digital photography. In spring of 1999 the digital jump sprung off. It was a huge jump both for the photographers and the clients. There was a serious drawback to this huge move. Most of the average world had never been exposed to digital cameras and were convinced that every camera needed film. This, of course, is no longer the case. Almost everyone has a digital camera, or is at least familiar with their power.

RJP is still a small, tight knit company. It has however become much more broad in its range of services. The motto of RJP is “If a camera does it, we do it!” RJP’s services range from Weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, Parties, Corporate Functions, Videography, Portraits, Headshots, Model Composites, School Photography, Laminating, Mounting, Wide Format Printing, Projection Slideshows, Custom Design Layout, Banner Printing, etc. The list seems to go on and on.

The staff of Robert James photography is nothing but the best! The owners of Robert James Photography & Video are Robert and his wife Jennifer. Robert James has been a photographer for the past 19 years. He has built and rebuilt numerous cameras, so not only does he have the eye to photograph, he also has the knowledge to work on the camera. By understanding how precise the camera is, he can gauge how well a shot will be, before he snaps it. It is quite amazing how he works! He is a member of WPPI and PPA, which are both highly respected in the industry. He has worked all over the world, The Bahamas, the Caribbean Islands, and even as far as Indonesia! His love and passion for photography shows in every picture he takes.
The second photographer in the studio is an international photographer from Europe. He came to Robert James Photography in 2000. Michael Carnie, formally “Michael of England,” has traveled all over to capture memories for nearly 23 years. He is well respected in the industry and specializing in the classic forms of lighting . If you have a desire for perfection, search no further. He has shot model calendars for several well-known companies and has been awarded many times for his great style. For the past three years he has been editing and doing graphic design. This is a self-taught area, which grows daily. Many have even noted that he is the best editor in Broward County.
